Contact tiller extensions joints have been designed by
Derek Clark, a former Americas Cup sailor, designer and
current coach to the British Sailing Team to specifi cally
cater for longer tiller extensions. The specially made
joint in the contact is 50% larger in diameter making it
far stronger for the increased helm loads and length of
extension. A simple C shaped clip has been designed
so that you can easily remove the tiller extension after
racing. Contact has been designed to be used with
either 22mm or 25mm.
Contact 1
Designed for a single tiller extension, Contact 1 suits fast
skiffs with longer extensions such as the Musto Skiff,
RS700, RS600 & Contender. The joint faces towards
the front of the boat rather than directly upwards. This
means that the tiller extension constantly wants to be by
the side of the helmsman due to the stiffness of the joint.
