Contact tiller extensions joints have been designed by Derek Clark, a former Americas Cup sailor, designer and current coach to the British Sailing Team to specifi cally cater for longer tiller extensions. The specially made
joint in the contact is 50% larger in diameter making it far stronger for the increased helm loads and length of
extension. A simple C shaped clip has been designed so that you can easily remove the tiller extension after
racing. Contact has been designed to be used with either 22mm or 25mm.
Contact 2
Contact 2 suits boats such as the 49er, RS800, B14
& Cherub. Contact 2 has the same simple C clip that
the contact 1 has which allows for easy removal of the
tiller extension. Due to being on top of the tiller in 1
single unit, it allows the helm to be in contact with the
extension throughout manoeuvres, rather than dropping
and re grabbing as you do with the standard joints. The
Stiffness of the joint helps keep the tiller by the side of
the helm rather than catching in the waves and being
swept out the back of the boat.
